A Heartfelt Reflection to Spark Joy in the New Year!

As we move into the new year, take some time to reflect and envision with me! Embarking on the journey of self-reflection as the new year unfolds, this two-part exercise invites you to delve into the intricate tapestry of the past 12 months. Ready? Let’s do it together.

  1. Begin by closing your eyes and allowing the events and people of the past year to gently surface. What were the three most challenging encounters? Briefly touch into each one, sensing the circumstances and the people involved. How did these experiences challenge you? Acknowledge your strengths in navigating these situations. If given the chance, what might you do differently, and what valuable lessons have they imparted? With these lessons in mind, what intentions can you set for the upcoming year?

  2. Now, let's shift the focus to celebrating. Bring to mind your top three moments from the past year. Feel the emotions as you immerse yourself in each moment, replaying them in your mind's eye. Allow these memories to resonate in your entire being—feel the sensations. What did it feel like? What did it look like? What did it smell like? Taste like? Identify the feelings associated with these positive memories. Create an intention to infuse more of these emotions into the coming year. Consider what is within your control and who can support you in creating these moments.

  3. Stay with these positive reflections for a moment, letting them weave into your present state. Slowly transition your focus back to the present by returning your awareness to your breath. Inhale deeply, exhale slowly. Take a moment before opening your eyes, expressing gratitude for this contemplative journey.

Thank yourself for the challenges, recognizing the lessons they have bestowed upon you. Symbolically release them by tearing up pieces of paper, a gesture signifying your readiness to move forward.

Now, re-connect with your highs and lows, nurture self-awareness, and begin to envision:

1. What would you like to create?

2. What would you like to feel?

3. What would you like to achieve?

4. What is something out of the ordinary you would like to plan for the upcoming year?

5. What is something you want to do for yourself?

Take a few moments to meditate on your New Year's Eve intentions. Visualize achieving each intention—feel the emotions, picture your surroundings, contemplate the steps you've taken to get there, and then write those steps down as a compass to guide you into this year.

Put your intentions somewhere where you will see them every day.   Commit to reading your intentions daily. The reminder and repetition will help you to stay on your path as you step and grow into the new year.
